This commitment to support the most disadvantaged population is reflected in the activities from the inclusion operating segment. In December 2012 this segment represented 2.4% of the total outstanding credit and had 26,121 clients. The main initiatives taken by CNG in this segment are:

  • CNG has developed a rural Productive Finance model. It grants loans to those people living in poor conditions in rural areas to carry out productive activities, such us watering system to improve the agricultural production, organic vegetable gardens, livestock production for fattening and dairy products, small animal production (guinea pig and fowl) and several activities that can generate incomes (wine shops, craftwork, etc). These loans go along with four elements that allow clients come out of poverty: a training plan for every group of clients, in-situ training programs by CNG agricultural technicians, incentives to reach a culture of savings and implementation of strategic alliances.
  • The CNG proposal «Ahorro para Todos» has been chosen by the Multilateral investment Fund (MIF) in order to promote saving among people with low resources in the south and in the centre of the country. MIF supports CNG in order to offer savings products suitable for those who benefit from the “Programa Juntos” in order to promote saving and investment in education, health, emergencies and enterprises, specially those small size enterprises. The number of beneficiaries is estimated to rise up to 8,400 people.
  • There are also different programs in which GNG has an important holding: (i) Cocoa supply chain, developed with USAID; (ii) Recycling Project Ciudad Saludable; (iii) Productive Saving with the Programa Sierra Norte, among others.
