The BBVAMF supports the “culture of giving” during the European Day of Foundations and Donors

The Spanish Association of Foundations (AEF) adopted an awareness campaign to increase society’s appreciation of the work of 140 thousand plus European entities and philanthropists that improve lives and encourage “the culture of giving”. The association aimed to multiply the number of participants in developing projects of general interest by promoting  the European Day of Foundations and Donors, a commemoration also celebrated by the BBVA Microfinance Foundation. Its mission: to nurture the sustainable and inclusive economic and social development of vulnerable populations through Productive Finance.

Proposing to highlight the sector’s relevance in constructing a better, more united and committed world, social media echoed the initiative by coming up with the #October1Europe hashtag.

In this edition entitled “Weather Report”, the European network DAFNE (Donors and Foundations Networks Europe), remarked how complex the environment is for European foundations to conduct their work. Determined by uncertain and altering regulations, these do not always favor such a diverse sector which normally encounters many difficulties in implementing their activities.

In this regard, the association of European foundations plays an important role in promoting work conditions that help the sector fulfill goals of general interest, along with adapting to changes overtime (economic, legislative, technological, etc…), “We should not forget that the European foundations and donors invest around 60 billion euros annually, in activities that target common causes”, confirmed the AEF.

The society’s support towards entities and philanthropists is indispensable to mobilize a greater action that would make our world a better place for everyone.
