Banco ADOPEM entrepreneurs distinguished in Microentrepreneur Awards 2014

Six of Banco ADOPEM’s entrepreneur customers have been distinguished in the tenth Microentrepreneur Awards granted by the Citi Foundation and the Council of American Development Foundations (SOLIDARIOS). These awards are designed to stimulate the development of entrepreneurship among the most vulnerable sectors of the population in the Dominican Republic.

Three entrepreneurs from Banco ADOPEM won first prize in various categories in the competition. The top prize in the Agriculture category went to Alberto Castillo Hernández; Karlenny Sosa García came first in the Young Entrepreneurs category; and Milagros Franco Arias took first prize in Microenterprise for Protection and Improvement of the Environment.

In addition, two of the bank’s entrepreneurs won second prizes in their categories: Carolina de los Ángeles Rodríguez in the Education category, and Francisca del Carmen Jiménez for Microentrepreneurial Initiatives. Finally, the entrepreneur Yahayra Olivo Delgado won third prize in the Education category.

Mercedes Canalda de Beras-Goico, executive president of Banco ADOPEM, expressed her satisfaction at this recognition of the entrepreneurial efforts of the bank’s customers, and said it proved that Responsible Productive Finance contributes to the sustainable development of underprivileged individuals through entrepreneurship. She also pointed out that these awards highlight the importance of microenterprises in the economic and social advancement of the country.
