ADOPEM BANK in the
Dominican Republic

ADOPEM Bank works in the FRAMEWORK of a country where its poverty rate is of 34%. According to the information provided by IDB1 (Inter-American Development Bank):

"Poor Dominican people have bigger families, lower level of education, and lower access to health water and basic sanitation. More than twice the poor families in the country live in rural areas, where poverty levels and its severity are higher. Poor people tend to be: (i) children (40% of children under 5 years old are poor); (ii) women (near 26% of rural families in the poorest decile are leaded by women); and (iii) elderly people (27,1% of the families in the poorest decile have a person older than 60 years old who is in charge of the family)."

The Geographical distribution of wealth in the country is one more important factor: the main part of the GDP and the access to education and health basic services are focused in Distrito Nacional and Santo Domingo. On the other hand, the Dominican-Haitian border areas and those inland areas are considered to be the poorest in the country.
