Banco Adopem, acknowledged for its contribution to the SDG

The Dominican institution of the BBVA Microfinance Foundation has been declared finalist in the CODESPA Awards 20th Edition, which was focused on projects with positive impact on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Banco Adopem has been acknowledged under the ‘Innovación Social’ category (Social Innovation) for its project entitled: Access to productive finance for populations residing in Dominican Republic’s poor provinces.

Mercedes Canalda, the MFI’s executive president, has received the recognition from HM the King, who chaired the awarding ceremony and has outlined that “each of the winners and finalists are examples of various approaches to reduce poverty.” “They are true models for the society and they show the different ways in which everyone can do their part in transforming and improving our surroundings and the world we live in”, he added.

The event awarded companies, SMEs, employee groups and journalists who stand out for their commitment with poverty eradication.
