I Corporate Governance Workshop: Gaps, challenges and objectives

The BBVA Microfinance Foundation holds the “I Corporate Governance Workshop: Gaps, challenges and objectives”, together with the Governance and Corporate Government Institute (Instituto de Gobernabilidad y Gobierno Corporativo) and ESAN University.

Luis Piazzón, Director for the Governance and Corporate Government Institute, and Luis Germán Linares, General Manager for Financiera Confianza, the BBVAMF’s institution in Peru, will give the welcome speech.

Marta López Naranjo, head of the Foundation’s Corporate Government, will give a lecture on “Strategic Governance: looking towards the future”.

Mila Guillén Rispa, Assistant Superintendent of the SBS (Banking, Insurance and Pension Funds Superintendence), participates with the key note address “Corporate Governance Regulations Analysis and Integrated Management of Risks”.

Bárbara Castro, Secretary to the Board of Directors for Financiera Confianza, will moderate the panel where prestigious experts will join, namely: Luis Ramos Rodríguez, professor from ESAN University; Marco Antonio Zaldivas García, President of the Board of Directors for the Lima Stock Exchange; Jorge Delgado, President of the Board of Directors for the ASOMIF (Microfinance Institutions’ Association), and Enriqueta González de Sáenz, General Secretary of the Board of Directors for BBVA Banco Continental.

SBS will be in charge of the closing rites.

This workshop, which will be celebrated in Lima, Peru, is the first among five others to be celebrated in the region in 2018, where the highest standards in good corporate governance will be addressed.

Since 2011, the BBVA Microfinance Foundation has organized various workshops on this matter. The Foundation has trained more than 400 members of directors’ management boards from Colombia, Peru, Dominican Republic and Costa Rica, with the collaboration of Abancord, Asomif, Banca de las Oportunidades, Bancoldex, Fepcmac, Redcamif/Redcom and other supervising organizations and associations.

The BBVAMF’s corporate governance code was selected as one of the best initiatives in transparency and good governance by the Fundación Compromiso y Transparencia.

Furthermore, the BBVAMF publishes the magazine “Progreso: Corporate Governance, Inclusion and Development”, where it quarterly informs about the new development and trends on international corporate governance.
