BBVA Microfinance Foundation Group’s Corporate Governance Code, chosen as one of the best transparency and good governance initiatives

BBVA Microfinance Foundation has been recognized by the Compromiso y Transparencia Foundation’s journal “Business Commitment” [Compromiso Empresarial], as having one of the 10 best transparency and good governance initiatives in 2015-2016, for having designed a governance model in line with the highest International standards which allows the organisation to function in a cohesive way, with the same vocabulary, that is interpreted in the same way, while adapting to the specific legislation of each country through its regulations and internal standards.

The Foundation is aware of the importance for a group of institutions – as a multinational that has specific governance standards in each of its institutions – of having basic norms embodying the institution’s principles and governance that are applicable to all. That is why it is so important to use a shared form of language through a Corporate Governance model that is based on international standards.

BBVA Microfinance Foundation Group’s Corporate Governance Code is a reference document for the group of companies, all operating in different jurisdictions. It marks out the shared good governance guidelines for the microfinance institutions making up the Group and strengthens the Foundation’s commitment to maximum transparency in its stakeholder relationships.
