The world still has 13 years before having to report back to the UN, thirteen years so governments, individuals and companies comply with the 17 goals they made a commitment to a couple of years ago. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is, each and every day, a topical issue. It is the universal route for the coming years, the action plan for a world that needs to change leaving no one behind.

The 17 SDGs, with its 169 targets, are based in key aspects such as equality, decent employment, health and wellbeing and education. The SDGs take the helm of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), approved in 2000, to set the stage of how the world should be in the 21st century.

In its mission to promote the socioeconomic development of vulnerable people, the BBVA Microfinance Foundation works in line with the SDGs and its efforts impact nine of them in varying degrees. Through financial inclusion, an instrument that is transversally mentioned along different Sustainable Development Goals, the Foundation contributes to the progress of almost two million people in Latin America.

Impact that goes beyond financial services

In its commitment to the 2030 Agenda, the BBVAMF is part of the SDG Private Sector Advisory Group of the UN SDG Fund. Since the constitution of this group in 2015, the Foundation works with other institutions, contributing to strengthen and make the best out of the public-private alliances.

These are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals which compromises all stakeholders to take a step forward and “transform our world”:
