The 2019 Concordia Americas Summit will bring together political and business leaders, academics and NGO representatives in Bogotá to discuss the current situation of the region and future challenges, such as the role of Latin America in technological innovation.

Miguel Charria, CEO of Bancamía, the Colombian entity of the BBVA Microfinance Foundation, will participate in several meetings of this international event.

On May 13 he will speak at a round table focused on how the business community should address the migrant and refugee crisis in Latin America and the Caribbean. Luis Alberto Moreno, President of the Inter-American Development Bank; Gideon Maltz, Executive Director of the Tent Partnership for Refugees; and Matthew A. Swifty, President of Concordia.

In addition, Charria will participate in the Strategic Dialogue “Sustainable Financing”, a collaborative session with Boston Consulting Group on the role of the private sector in sustainable development and socially responsible investments.

On May 14, Bancamía’s executive president will also take part in the debate, Adaptation to Climate Change and Environmental Security, that is part of the “Partnership Accelerator”, a panel of experts where ideas and innovative proposals will be shared to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, especially in terms of resilience and adaptation to climate change. Miguel Ángel Charria will detail the experience of Bancamía with the Microfinance Program for Adaptation to Climate Change Based on Ecosystems (MEbA) that deals with environmental problems of financial inclusion to rural populations.
