The BBVA Microfinance Foundation (BBVAMF) presents its social performance outcomes in Chile, collected in its 2018 Social Performance Report “Measuring what really matters”. BBVAMF is present in this country through two microfinance institutions, Fondo Esperanza and Emprende Microfinanzas.
By the end of 2018, Fondo Esperanza has supported 120,000 entrepreneurs and has welcomed 46,000 new clients. More than 34,000 (74%) of them are women with much more propensity to fall into poverty than men (97% versus 88%).
Emprende Microfinanzas, on the other hand, served 8,788 clients in 2018, 86% of whom are living under vulnerable conditions.
BBVAMF, active in five Latin American countries, is a reference in the microfinance sector thanks to its proprietary performance assessment system using quantitative and qualitative tools to analyze the progress of the two million plus vulnerable entrepreneurs it serves.
