The BBVA Microfinance Foundation intervenes at the Google Cloud Summit Madrid as a successful case example

Google Cloud Summit took place today in Madrid where the technology company tackled the solutions it offers in the digital era and the future of the cloud. The BBVA Microfinance Foundation (BBVAMF) participated in this event as an example of a success case. In its endeavor to innovate, the Foundation incorporates technology in the daily management of its group’s microfinance institutions in Latin America, together with strategic partners such as Google.

“As a non-profit, we always seek ways to innovate to be more agile and efficient in our processes, and be able to serve more people. We want to digitize the way we work and Google Cloud solutions appeared to be the best way of achieving that, thanks to its easy and fast setup”, confirmed Joao Costa, director of Technology and Data at BBVAMF, during his intervention.

For the Foundation, integrating digital transformation in microfinance is key to achieve a financial inclusion model that is more effective and that reaches excluded segments. “Working in the cloud allows us a flexibility we never had before. We can develop new and simpler management tools that could benefit our entrepreneurs”, shares Joao Costa.

Technological innovation is essential to increase outreach and attention to two million vulnerable entrepreneurs served by the BBVA Microfinance Foundation in Latin America. Through its six institutions, the Foundation closely works with different technological partners to bring the benefits of digital transformation within reach of those most in need.
