The aim is to enable them to improve their situation and realize their plans for their future life as law-abiding members of society.<\/p>\n<p>Ex-combatants reentering civilian life suffer a high degree of social stigmatization, but the work of institutions like Bancam\u00eda show that the business and financial sector is increasingly opening its doors to people looking for a second chance as law-abiding members of society. \u201c<strong>Bancam\u00eda is committed to supporting reintegrated individuals and creating well-being for them and their families by reinforcing their productive units<\/strong>\u201d says Mar\u00eda Mercedes G\u00f3mez, executive president of Bancam\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6335\" style=\"width: 536px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/karen-canaton-1-bancamia-fmbbva-en-colombia-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6335\" class=\"wp-image-6335\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/karen-canaton-1-bancamia-fmbbva-en-colombia-1-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Karen Canat\u00f3n, clienta de Bancam\u00eda, que ha iniciado un negocio agr\u00edcola en Colombia tras abandonar su ciudad debido al conflicto\" width=\"526\" height=\"350\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6335\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Karen Canat\u00f3n, Bancam\u00eda\u00b4s entrepeneur, who has a rural small business in Colombia after leaving her city cause the\u00a0conflict<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Being given access to financial products \u2013which some companies deny to anyone who has ever belonged to an illegal armed group\u2013, allows people to overcome their condition of vulnerability while fostering the values of lawfulness and trust. \u201c<strong>Giving opportunities to ex-combatants means closing a cycle of violence. A person who is given opportunities to get ahead within a law-abiding society will almost certainly never think of picking up a weapon again<\/strong>\u201d, says Joshua Mitrotti, general director of the Colombian Agency for Reintegration.<\/p>\n<p>The framework of the agreement between the Colombian Agency for Reintegration and Bancam\u00eda covers <strong>access to products and training in financial matters for ex-combatants and their families<\/strong> at the national level, supported by the Colombian Agency for Reintegration, the body charged with developing the reintegration roadmap, the mechanism to assist ex-combatants in their return to civilian society.<\/p>\n<p>The system of microcredits will make it easier for anyone in the process of reintegration who has a productive project underway to access lines of funding for small amounts and allow them to meet the needs of their existing business units.
