The SME Finance Forum<\/a> has announced that, after a rigorous evaluation process, the BBVA Microfinance Foundation (BBVAMF) is one of the finalists in the VII Global SME Finance 2024 awards. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\"\"\n

Divided into four categories (SME Financier of the Year, Best Financier for Women Entrepreneurs, Product Innovation of the Year, and Sustainable Bond of the Year), this recognition acknowledges the impact of financial institutions that empower small and medium-sized enterprises’ (SMEs) inclusion and facilitate their access to products and services.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, the awards ceremony will take place at the annual Global SME Finance Forum in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from September 16 to 18.<\/span><\/p>\n

The SME Finance Forum is a network of more than 300 members from over 100 countries dedicated to promoting SME finance and services and is a G-20 initiative managed by the IFC (World Bank Group).<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Qamar Saleem,<\/a> CEO of the SME Finance Forum, innovation and collaboration are key to empowering SMEs to play their role as catalysts for economic growth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since its creation in 2007, the BBVAMF has contributed to economic and social development in five Latin American countries, supporting more than 6 million vulnerable entrepreneurs through the disbursement of more than 20 billion dollars in microcredits for their businesses.<\/p>\n

The work of the BBVA Microfinance Foundation and its MFIs has been recognized with various awards. In 2024, BBVAMF won the UN Global Compact’s Global go!SDG Award out of more than 500 nominations.
