Rosalbina \u00c1lvarez is the mother of two daughters whose education she has paid for by selling products by catalog. A trade that is shared by a team of more than 40 women that she manages.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 1920px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-23990-1\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" autoplay preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/video-rosalbina-ingles.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/video-rosalbina-ingles.mp4\">http:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/video-rosalbina-ingles.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>9 years ago, she joined the Colombian institution in the BBVA Microfinance Foundation, and since then, little by little, she has been achieving one goal after another. \u201cFor whatever reason, God sent me an angel. That angel came directly from Bancam\u00eda, who explained what I had to do to get a loan\u201d, she says. With the microcredits the institution has been granting her, she has succeeded in changing the present and the future of her daughters, giving them the opportunity to do something she was never able: to study. That is why she has always tried to do the best for her daughters, \u201cso they could study, so they won&#8217;t have to scrape for money to survive\u201d. Her goal is a reality today, because both girls have finished their studies and are working. The elder is a dentist in Medell\u00edn and the younger, a single mother who lives with Rosalbina, is a dental assistant in a dentist\u2019s practice in her town.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-23548 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/fotos-01-1024x895.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"314\" height=\"274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/fotos-01-1024x895.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/fotos-01-180x157.png 180w, https:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/fotos-01-768x671.png 768w, https:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/fotos-01.png 2019w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 314px) 100vw, 314px\" \/>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe greatest legacy that one can leave their children is education.<\/strong> I cannot find the words to describe what it means to me now that my daughters are professionals. It is as though I have left them an inheritance. It&#8217;s my pride, the completion of a huge amount of effort,\u201d she explains. Even after everything she has achieved, Rosalbina is still thinking big and aspiring to achieve more, with her sights set on her younger daughter also becoming a dentist so that in the future she can get a better-paid job.<\/p>\n<p>Stories like Rosalbina\u2019s bring to life <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/en\/sector-development\/sustainable-development-goals\/\">BBVAMF\u2019s contribution to achieving the United Nations\u2019 SDG 4.<\/a> A goal that identifies guaranteeing inclusive, gender-neutral and good-quality education, as well as encouraging learning opportunities for all.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Rosalbina, a reference for her female neighbors<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-23550 \" src=\"http:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/revista-1024x659.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"359\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/revista-1024x659.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/revista-180x116.png 180w, https:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/revista-768x494.png 768w, https:\/\/www.fundacionmicrofinanzasbbva.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/revista.png 1884w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 359px) 100vw, 359px\" \/><\/span>This entrepreneur is a key member of her community. Since she started working with Bancam\u00eda, she has not only received economic support, but also financial training. She then passes this training to the women\u2019s group she leads in her neighborhood so that, like her, they can improve their lives and that of their families&#8217;. \u201cI tell my ladies that <strong>the only way to have &#8216;good&#8217; children is by educating them. How? By working to enable them to prosper\u201d<\/strong>, she continues.<\/p>\n<p>Because of all the advice and help she gives her female neighbors, Rosalbina has become a person of reference in the area.
